F1 Academy - Doriane Pin in trouble this weekend, Abbi Pulling and Chloe Chambers victorious
Auto. The F1 Academy girls were back in action this weekend. It was a half-hearted return for the Frenchwoman, Doriane Pin, who returned from a rib injury and didn't have her best weekend on the Spanish circuit. Abbi Pulling and Chloe Chambers shone brightly, taking their respective victories.
Course 1
After a month without a race weekend due to a rib fracture, Doriane Pin returned this weekend for the Spanish stage of the championship. The French driver was back behind the wheel this Saturday during the first race of the weekend. Starting fifth on the grid, the 20-year-old driver had a poor start and found herself 14th after the first turn. She was able to show her talent a few laps later and took advantage of the safety car deployment following a collision between the Dutch Maya Weug and the Emirati Amna Al Qubaisi.
Mercedes' protegee managed to climb back to 7th place thanks to her speed. It was Abbi Pulling who easily won in Barcelona on Saturday and consolidated her lead ahead of Sunday's race, with Nerea Marti finishing 2nd and Chloe Chambers 3rd. The British driver now has a 53-point lead over Dorian Pin, who is 2nd in the F1 Academy overall standings. As for the other French driver, Lola Lovinfosse, she finished 11th in the first race of the weekend.
Course 2
Race 2 of the Barcelona meeting was an opportunity to put an end to a series of victories. Chloé Chambers crossed the finish line first and secured a victory putting an end to Abbi Pulling's four consecutive wins, who finished second this Sunday morning in Barcelona. The Briton, starting in pole position just ahead of Chloé Chambers, let her competitor slip away, who gradually increased her lead and started the final lap with over 7 seconds ahead.
On the French side, Doriane Pin once again got off to a bad start, which penalized her by three places. However, she managed to catch up and crossed the finish line in fifth place behind Chloé Chambers, who set the fastest lap, Abbi Pulling, Hamda Al Qubaisi, and Nerea Marti. Lola Lovinfosse finished eighth this Sunday morning.
The next meeting is scheduled in Zandvoort on August 25th.
