Lewis Hamilton records his 200th career podium in F1
F1. With his third podium finish in Hungary on Sunday, Lewis Hamilton recorded his 200th podium in his F1 career. An exceptional figure in a 17-year career that no other driver has ever achieved.
200 exactly. This is the number of podiums Lewis Hamilton has climbed in his career. This figure is even more impressive when put into perspective of his participation in Formula 1 Grand Prix races. Indeed, the British driver has taken part in 345 Grand Prix races in his 17 years in Formula 1, which brings his podium rate to 58%. Currently in F1, he is proportionally the driver who has climbed the podium most frequently. By comparison, Max Verstappen currently has 107 podiums which is 54% of the Grand Prix races he has competed in.
Since he entered Formula 1 (2007), Lewis Hamilton has been on the podium every year. With a personal record of 17 podiums in a season during the 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019 seasons.
Over 17 seasons, Lewis Hamilton (driver profile) has won 7 world championship titles. Although he has often struggled in the lead, he also benefits from the significantly increased number of Grand Prix races for each season now. Indeed, with over 20 Grand Prix races per year, statistics also increase proportionately.
The second driver with the most podium finishes in F1 is the other seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher with 155 podiums. This is still 45 less than Lewis Hamilton, the equivalent of 3 seasons of races. Sebastian Vettel, four-time world champion, is third in this ranking with 122 podiums and 40% of podiums recorded in his career. Max Verstappen follows in 4th place in this podium number ranking, ahead of Alain Prost (106 at 53%) tied with Fernando Alonso (106 at 27%).
Considérable.
