Here we are, the final round of the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship season. While the driver's title is no longer at stake, the battle for the constructor's title is raging between McLaren and Ferrari. With only a 21-point gap between the two teams, everything is still up for grabs in this last Grand Prix.

Follow Free Practice 1 live commentary

Hello everyone! Welcome to this final meeting of the season where we will follow together the first free practice session of this Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

- 1 min: Here we go for FP1! The two Aston Martin cars of Felipe Drugovich and Fernando Alonso are the first to hit the track.

- 5 min: Isack Hadjar, who replaces Verstappen for this FP1, complains about his driving position, preventing him from taking the corners well. He spins out on his out lap.

- 7 min: George Russell complains about the heat in his cockpit, a recurring issue at Mercedes this season.

- 10 min: Hadjar insists on his difficulties in driving his single-seater, indicating that he cannot continue like this. A complicated start to the session for the Frenchman.

- 12 min: Russell is currently holding the fastest lap time in this early stage of the session. A time set with medium tires in 1:25.963.

- 18 min: Lewis Hamilton hinders Lando Norris in his flying lap, who has to abort his attempt. At the same time, Isack Hadjar comes into the pits to fix his issue with the seating position in the car.

- - 22 min: Five single-seaters have still not recorded any times: those of Felipe Drugovich, Fernando Alonso, Ryō Hirakawa, Ayumu Iwasa, and Charles Leclerc.

- 24 min: Lewis Hamilton takes the fastest time with a lap time of 1:25.566.

- 26 min: Hadjar returns to the track with soft tires. He is the only one, along with Arthur Leclerc, to be using his tires at the moment.

- 28 min: Pierre Gasly secures a fourth position with a time of 1:26.073.
