Pierre Gasly aims for a top 5 finish for Alpine in 2025
For the 2025 season, Pierre Gasly has set Alpine an ambitious target: to break into the top 5 of F1 constructors. After a rollercoaster 2024, the team's performance in Brazil has breathed new life into the team. It's a tall order, but the French driver believes in it.

Pierre Gasly is not the type to settle for mediocrity. For the 2025 Formula 1 season, the French driver has set the bar high by setting Alpine the goal of ranking among the top five in the constructors' championship. A significant challenge, but one that could very well be achievable after a 2024 season marked by some pleasant surprises. "I would say a Top 5 in the constructors' standings, because that's what I want and I think it's quite achievable," declared the French driver during the Autosport Awards, with a confidence that is delightful to see. A result that would be a huge leap forward compared to the last two seasons, where Alpine often lingered at the bottom of the standings.
A team on the path to improvement
The 2024 season for Alpine was marked by ups and downs, but above all by notable progress. The team started the year in a delicate form, notably with the overweight of its A524 car, which hindered its performance. But everything changed during the Brazilian Grand Prix, where the team clinched a double podium that was as unexpected as it was exceptional. This performance allowed Alpine to end the year on a positive note, propelling the team to sixth place in the constructors' standings. Gasly did not hesitate to make it a starting point. Thanks to this result at Interlagos, Alpine was the fifth-best ranked team after the summer break of 2024, he explains. An impressive rise in power, but far from sufficient for Alpine, which aims to consolidate this momentum and push even further to slip among the top five.
Gasly does not hide it: the road will be fraught with obstacles. The competition promises to be tough, with several teams ready to shake up the established order. Christian Horner, head of Red Bull, also believes that the leading pack will be particularly contested this year. « I think it will be very tight. We will have four teams that will be very competitive », he said to Autosport at the Autosport Awards. « McLaren will be strong, Ferrari will be strong, Mercedes will have something to prove as well ». In other words, each team will have to maximize their gains and find solutions at each race weekend to leave no chance to their rivals.
An optimistic Gasly
Gasly is not fazed by the competition and his goal remains clear: a Top 5 in 2025. "Obviously, deep down, I would like more than that, but I have to be objective and recognize that the field will be tight and competitive," he adds pragmatically. His message is clear: Alpine has the means to fight for the top positions, and he will be there to give his all.
