Franco Colapinto, 21 years old, is back on the Formula 1 starting grid. After a promising first experience with Williams in 2024, where he scored points from his debut, the Argentine driver joins Alpine for a series of five races, starting with the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. This opportunity follows the replacement of Jack Doohan, who failed to score points in the first six races of the season.

« I am delighted to join BWT Alpine Formula One Team and would like to thank Williams for their support, which made my Formula 1 dream possible. This new chapter with Alpine is a true honor », said Colapinto during the press conference on May 15, 2025.

A significant challenge

Colapinto is aware of the pressure that comes with this opportunity. With only five races to prove himself, he must quickly adapt to a new car and a new team. He emphasizes the importance of progressing step by step and contributing to the development of the car.

"I focus on collective work with Alpine. The goal is to progress at each race and help the team move forward," he added.

Support and expectations

The return of Colapinto is supported by Flavio Briatore, Alpine's executive advisor, who sees him as a major asset for the team's future. « Franco is fast. He's a very, very good driver. He needs to gain experience, but we believe in him. We fought to have him in the team », stated Briatore.

Colapinto also benefits from the support of his fans in Argentina, which he considers an additional source of motivation. "Your passion and encouragement mean a lot to me. Let's aim for even greater things in 2025 and beyond," he expressed.

An opportunity to seize

With this series of five races, Colapinto has the opportunity to prove his worth and establish himself as a full-time driver with Alpine. His goal is clear: to adapt quickly, contribute to the development of the car, and achieve impressive results. The young Argentine driver is ready to take on this challenge and prove himself on the track.
