McLaren storms Trafalgar Square ahead of Silverstone

Just a few days before the British GP, the British team transforms London into a temple of racing. On July 2 and 3, 2025, Trafalgar Square, one of London's most emblematic landmarks, will be decked out in papaya orange as McLaren Racing organizes a free, never-before-seen event in the run-up to its home Grand Prix. Entitled McLaren Racing Live: London, the event promises to immerse fans in the world of McLaren racing and innovation.

Trafalgar Square will see neither a royal procession nor a political demonstration at the beginning of July. On July 2 and 3, 2025, the iconic London square will radically change its atmosphere: McLaren will organize a free open-air event there, in the heart of the British capital, a few days before the British Grand Prix. An event that combines technology, emotion, and nostalgia, reflecting the identity of the team founded in 1963.

A total immersion in the McLaren universe

Named McLaren Racing Live: London, this exceptional event will allow fans to get up close to the most beautiful specimens of the brand: Formula 1, Formula E, IndyCar, WEC, not to mention historical models that have marked the greatest eras of racing. But that's not all: simulators, reflex walls, tire change challenges, interactive animations, and an official merchandise stand will complete the experience. The goal: to bring the race to life from the inside, as close to the public as possible.

Members of the McLaren team, engineers, mechanics, and perhaps even the drivers themselves, will also be present for appearances and interactions with the fans. A rare moment of intimacy between the team and those who support it.

A strategic charm offensive

As the British Grand Prix at Silverstone approaches, McLaren is displaying its ambition: to bring together its fans, revive its legend, and assert its presence in the British media and cultural landscape. For Louise McEwen, marketing director of McLaren Racing, the challenge is clear:

« We can't wait to repaint Trafalgar Square in papaya. It will be an unforgettable experience. This kind of event creates a direct connection with our fans, far beyond the circuits. »

This spotlight is also part of a broader strategy for McLaren: to position itself as a global player in sports innovation, at the crossroads of technology, competition, and lifestyle.

Trafalgar Square, a powerful symbol

This is not the first time that Trafalgar Square has hosted F1. Back in 2017, Liberty Media had organized a F1 Live event, bringing together all the drivers (except Lewis Hamilton). But this year, it's McLaren alone taking over the monument. And it's no coincidence: the Woking team is making a strong symbolic gesture here, on its home ground, in front of its audience, during an anniversary calendar where F1 is celebrating its 75th year.

With a summer marked by festivities at Silverstone and a Silverstone Festival planned for August, McLaren sets the tone and wants to leave a unique mark on this season – in papaya, of course.
