The use of the wind tunnel and CFD tools are essential for F1 teams. These allow teams to test improvements, introduced during the winter and during the season, on the single-seater. However, these tests do not always accurately reflect the behavior of the car, unlike Grand Prix circuits.<\/p>\n

The wind tunnel testing times are however limited in order to limit the gap between the teams during the season. They are calculated inversely proportional to the constructor’s ranking. This gives a chance for the last ones to catch up on their performance delay and for the champion not to dig, in theory, an abyssal gap with the rest of the field.<\/p>\n
