Despite a full schedule of 22 races in 2021, some restrictions due to the COVID pandemic weighed on attendance. However, in 2022, these obstacles finally disappeared, and Formula 1 saw a significant increase in its numbers. Overall revenues increased by 20%, rising from $2.136 billion in 2021 to $2.573 billion in 2022 (\u20ac2,433,000,000).<\/p>\n

In terms of benefits, Liberty Media’s F1 section has thus generated 239 million dollars (226 M \u20ac) in profits<\/b> versus 92 million dollars between 2021. The figures show an increase of 160%.<\/p>\n

This impressive growth is explained by several factors, including the return of full-capacity crowds in the stands, an increase in media rights, and new sponsorship deals. The success of the Netflix series “Drive to Survive” has fueled the growing interest in the discipline, thus contributing to this increase in revenues.<\/p>\n

The teams share more money<\/h2>\n

The ten Formula 1 teams also benefited from this prosperous period. They shared bonuses totaling $1.157 billion in 2022 (\u20ac1.094 billion), an increase from the previous year ($1.068 billion). Under the terms of the Concorde agreements, the teams and F1 shareholders share the profits 50\/50. So if the teams receive $1 billion, one can therefore imagine that this is also the case for investors and shareholders. A very profitable company therefore.<\/p>\n

The teams have therefore seen their finances strengthened thanks to the increase in F1 revenues. This injection of money allows the teams to continue their battle on the track, promising a stable future for small structures, notably Williams or Haas.<\/p>\n

More fans and TV audience<\/h2>\n

The year 2022 has been marked by a record number of spectators in the stands. Formula 1 recorded a total attendance of 5.7 million fans, an increase of 36% compared to 2019, before the pandemic disrupted subsequent seasons. This record attendance testifies to the growing enthusiasm for Formula 1. In addition, the discipline has conquered new horizons, notably in the United States, where it has experienced a spectacular growth in its television audience. The agreements with ESPN and Disney have propelled Formula 1 onto American screens, attracting millions of viewers. This increasing popularity is also a magnet for sponsors, with renowned brands such as Heineken and Mercedes joining the Formula 1 pack.<\/p>\n

Hospitality at the Heart of Formula 1 Finances<\/h2>\n

Formula 1, since always, attracts a wealthy clientele, where races are an opportunity to meet jet-setters and celebrities, whether it’s in Monaco or soon in Las Vegas. This upcoming race in Sin City proves to be a lucrative source of income for those wishing to access the Paddock area, where hospitality reigns supreme.<\/p>\n

This source of income is so lucrative that the F1 Experiences company is now the exclusive provider of the luxurious F1 Garage suites, located directly along the pit lane. The price of the F1 Garage ranges from 30,000 to 33,000 US dollars depending on the race.<\/p>\n

The Skybox lodges, priced at 10,000 dollars per person, are located above the main stand.
