James Thompson commented this week that he was happy to have worked in 2007 with a young and inexperienced team, which earned him third place in the championship this season.<\/p>\n
The double BTCC champion also admitted to having more responsibility in the team that may have experienced its last season in WTCC, as N.Technology is currently without Alfa Romeo, with the brand wanting to withdraw.<\/p>\n
Previous years, Thompson participated in the WTCC championship with Seat Sport, but he believes that finding a small team has been totally beneficial for him.<\/p>\n
\u00ab It helped me a lot,” he stated.<\/p>\n
\u00ab When I was driving for SEAT, we had six engines, six drivers, and five of us had already won national or international titles. \u00bb<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, my driving style is very different from my former teammates, and the team, when a choice had to be made, inevitably followed the majority, which didn’t always suit me.<\/p>\n
\u00ab This year, with N.Technology, this problem never occurred, especially since I was given more responsibilities, with the team placing complete trust in me. \u00bb<\/p>\n
Thompson on Alfa Romeo finished third in the championship, behind Andy Priaulx on BMW and Yvan Muller with Seat. Therefore, despite missing the title, he believes he can be satisfied with his season: \u00ab I think we need to take a step back and realize that we beat two BMW drivers, all the Chevrolet drivers, and all the Seat drivers except one… \u00bb exclaimed the Englishman.<\/p>\n
\u00ab If we consider the relatively high age of the car, combined with our mere three days of testing in the year… I think we have done a remarkable job together. \u00bb<\/p>\n
Thompson, since 2007, has only participated in the WTCC championship, thus choosing to set aside his BTCC career. However, the Briton is currently looking for a drive for 2008.
