{"id":27396,"date":"2007-12-15T17:23:52","date_gmt":"2007-12-15T17:23:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.motorsinside.com\/en\/f1\/news\/4752-raikkonen-should-have-been-crowned-champion-long-time-ago"},"modified":"2007-12-15T17:23:52","modified_gmt":"2007-12-15T17:23:52","slug":"4752-raikkonen-should-have-been-crowned-champion-long-time-ago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.motorsinside.com\/en\/f1\/news\/4752-raikkonen-should-have-been-crowned-champion-long-time-ago","title":{"rendered":"R\u00e4ikk\u00f6nen should have been crowned champion a long time ago!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kimi R\u00e4ikk\u00f6nen waited too long to secure a world title in F1 and should be a three-time world champion by now, claimed his manager David Robertson.<\/p>\n<p>The Finnish driver was crowned for the first time in 2007 during the last Grand Prix in Brazil after narrowly defeating Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso.<\/p>\n<p>And although R\u00e4ikk\u00f6nen was thrilled by this success, Robertson believes that his prot\u00e9g\u00e9 should have more titles to his name by now if he hadn&#8217;t suffered from the poor reliability of the McLaren cars: His former team.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab Two championships were taken away from Kimi, \u00bb said Robertson in an interview with the Finnish television channel MTV3.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab He would currently be the youngest champion if it weren&#8217;t for McLaren&#8217;s reliability issues. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab He has continued to improve and we are very happy with this point. But he should be a triple world champion today instead of just a world champion! \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Robertson also suggests that Fernando Alonso&#8217;s departure from McLaren is further evidence of the team&#8217;s difficulties in managing drivers.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab Alonso&#8217;s departure was a bad thing for McLaren.
