Heavy rains have been pouring since Wednesday, April 12th, over Florida, and particularly over the city of Miami. These weather conditions are causing floods, paralyzing streets, businesses, and even airports. This phenomenon is no longer really unprecedented since it occurs with every heavy downpour.<\/p>\n

Due to its geography, Miami is already regularly affected by tropical storms such as hurricanes. It is now also subject to multiple floods per year due to rising sea levels, accelerated by climate change.<\/p>\n

The Miami circuit is not spared from these bad weather conditions, as the track is transformed into a giant swimming pool. Even if the waters were to withdraw soon, these heavy downpours may leave traces. Debris could accumulate on the asphalt or it could deteriorate.<\/p>\n

A situation that would not help matters as the track had been heavily criticized by the drivers for its lack of grip.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, Sebastian Vettel had raised awareness about this issue during the first edition of the Grand Prix last year. He had worn a t-shirt with the words “Miami 2060 – 1st Grand Prix underwater – Act now or swim later”.<\/p>\n

The city will host the 20 drivers from May 5th to 7th. They will take the wheel in the streets around the Hard Rock Stadium.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
