“I want to electrify Alpine to inscribe it in eternity,” announced Luca de Meo, President and CEO of the Renault Group, upon taking office. Laurent Rossi, Alpine’s director, therefore presented on Thursday a prototype of the Alpine A110 based on the Berlinette but powered by an electric motor.<\/p>\n
The A110 E-ternity, 100% electric, is the result of this exploratory work. It celebrates the 60th anniversary of the berlinette. Serving as a bridge between a prestigious past and a 100% electric future, it illustrates the efforts that Alpine is currently implementing to develop its range of new models, explains the statement.<\/p>\n
The Alpine brand indeed announced last year that it would only develop electric models from now on. The batteries and electrical system add extra weight. The A110 E-ternity model, in fact, weighs 258 kgs more compared to the classic A110. Nearly 400 kgs of batteries are distributed in different locations, both in the front and rear, for better weight distribution.<\/p>\n
The only electric motor of the Renault group has been integrated into this prototype, but with a major innovation: the addition of a gearbox allowing for better management of the “Start” and “Race” modes. 300 Nm of torque are planned compared to 320 for the thermal version.
