Today, Saturday, July 9, 2022, marks exactly 90 years since Scuderia Ferrari first placed the prancing horse logo on a yellow background on their race cars.<\/p>\n

On the occasion of this anniversary, Ferrari placed the same historic logo on its F1-75s during the Austrian Grand Prix. The logo is applied on the side of the nose in front of the air intakes and can also be found on the entrance to the garage.<\/p>\n

This logo, originally displayed at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on a Ferrari-powered Alfa Romeo on July 9, 1932, was a tribute to Italian air driver Francesco Baracca. The yellow background is a reference to the colors of the city of Modena, the birthplace of Ferrari.<\/p>\n

The modern Ferrari logo is not much different from the one at the beginning of the 20th century. We can notice that the letters “SF” are less spaced apart today than they were at the time when the prancing horse, which was wider and less stylized than it is today.<\/p>\n

The first time it was used, this logo brought luck to Scuderia Ferrari in endurance, as the two teams, Antonio Brivio\/Eugenio Siena and Piero Taruffi\/Guido d’Ippolito, achieved a one-two finish with their Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 MM.<\/p>\n
