While rumors were circulating about the disappearance of the French Grand Prix at the Paul-Ricard circuit, it will indeed be present on the 2022 F1 calendar. In an interview with CNN Sport, Stefano Domenicali, the CEO of F1, confirmed the presence of the race without providing any further information.<\/p>\n

In the same interview, he indicated that the plan is to have 23 races next season. A record number, after the 22 GPs organized in 2021. He also expressed a wish for the season to end earlier, before the month of December. However, he did not confirm the information regarding the return of South Africa with the Kyalami circuit in the near future, but contacts have already been made. The full calendar for 2022 will be unveiled during the FIA World Motor Sport Council meeting, which will take place in Paris on October 15th.<\/p>\n

Monaco changes its format<\/h2>\n

A historical change. The Monaco Grand Prix will now be held over three days, like all the others on the calendar. Previously it took place over four days with the first two free practice sessions on Thursday and Friday, which was considered a rest day. Domenicali announced this change to CNN Sport: Monaco will be over three days starting from 2022. So, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday instead of Thursday. This is the change we will introduce next year.<\/p>\n

Since its first appearance in 1950, the Monaco Grand Prix was held during the Ascension weekend. As Thursday was a public holiday, single-seaters could run for the fans’ greatest pleasure. This short break allowed for increased attendance during the four days.
