The Canadian Grand Prix 2020 was cancelled like many others to avoid worsening the health problems related to the Covid-19 pandemic. Scheduled for June 13, 2021, this new edition is on hold.<\/p>\n
Indeed, last Thursday, the Montreal Public Health Council did not give its approval for the organization of the event – which we recall takes place in a very urban environment, in the heart of Montreal on Notre-Dame Island.<\/p>\n
However, even though this announcement is unfavorable to the holding of the 2021 Grand Prix, it has not yet been canceled. Neither by the organizers, nor by the FIA.<\/p>\n
Several possibilities are possible:<\/b><\/p>\n The FOM would ask the organizers for a compensation of six million dollars to organize the Canadian Grand Prix in addition to the 18 million dollars paid for participating in the championship.<\/p>\n If the 2021 Grand Prix is kept, it is because Canada and Montreal believe that the international benefits would be worth it, but especially because the contract with Liberty and F1 includes a penalty if the Grand Prix were not to take place, resulting in the loss of the event until 2029. The situation is therefore more than complicated.
