Friday, during Free Practice 2, a collision occurred between Sergio P\u00e9rez (Racing Point) and Kimi R\u00e4ikk\u00f6nen (Alfa Romeo). Without severity, P\u00e9rez exiting the pits collided with the rear of the Alfa Romeo at the first corner.<\/p>\n
The Mexican driver defended himself by explaining that the pit exit line was longer than usual and that at the time of his exit, he didn’t have R\u00e4ikk\u00f6nen in his rearview mirror. P\u00e9rez therefore did not expect to see the Finnish driver at the first corner.<\/p>\n
The incident was judged by the stewards last night, and they decided that the Mexican had violated Article 4.2.d of the FIA sporting code.
