Formula 1 stops in the United Kingdom this weekend, a legendary race in the world championship since its inception in 1950. It was indeed on English soil that the first Grand Prix in history took place with a victory by Giuseppe Farina in an Alfa Romeo.

Since 2010, the Silverstone track has been very different from what Formula 1 experienced in the 90s and 2000s. The famous Becketts, Maggots, and Chapel corners are still present but are now in the second part of the circuit as the start/finish line has been moved past the Club corner, whereas it was previously just before this legendary sequence.

These changes are not the first to occur since the track was created on a former Royal Air Force airbase. At the start of the world championship, the layout was a sort of long loop with fast corners, which made it quite dangerous. In the early 90s, other slower corners were added up until the latest modifications in recent years.

It is also the home race for many teams on the grid whose factories are based all around the circuit, such as Mercedes, Renault, Racing Point, and also McLaren and Williams.

This weekend, only Canal+ will offer you the opportunity to follow the Grand Prix on its channels. The usual setup will be in place with a small novelty, the presence of Esteban Ocon providing commentary alongside Julien Fébreau during the race.

Length of the circuit: 5.891 Km

**Number of laps in the race:** 52

Track record: 1:25.892 (Lewis Hamilton, 2010 on the new layout)

Record holders for victories: Alain Prost, Lewis Hamilton (5), Ferrari (14)

**Record holder for pole positions:** Lewis Hamilton (6), Williams, Ferrari (11)
