It’s a team that has pulled off some impressive feats in Hypercar, but has sometimes lacked reliability. Despite a rather mixed record due to retirements and these mechanical issues, BMW delivered a solid first full season and continued on this path in the second, which is still ongoing.

Since its arrival in the WEC, the Bavarian brand has achieved two podiums: one at the 6 Hours of Fuji in 2024 and another at the 6 Hours of Imola in 2025. In IMSA, the performances are decent with a one-two finish in the last race at the Road America circuit.

With the recent extension of the Hypercar regulations until the end of 2032, which ensures the commercial stability of the category and all its participants, BMW has confirmed its long-term commitment to this discipline. This ensures the presence of a manufacturer in a series that is not lacking in them.

« I am very happy that we are continuing our successful long-term Hypercar program in FIA WEC and IMSA, » stated Andreas Roos, director of BMW M Motorsport. « Over the past few years, we have learned a lot about our BMW M Hybrid V8, made significant progress, and established ourselves among the leaders. I am therefore both eager and optimistic for the future, especially since the extension of the homologation period gives us great planning security. »

On the other hand, in GT3, it’s a bit more complicated; even though the BMWs secured two podiums (Qatar and Imola), their performance level is below expectations.
