Big maneuvers among Red Bull's young drivers: Dan Ticktum was dismissed after a disappointing start to the season in Super Formula while Patricio O'Ward is trying his hand at F2.

It is often criticized that drivers lack personality and simply stick to politically correct public statements. But from time to time, one of them decides to do exactly the opposite. Not always wisely…

The most recent is Dan Ticktum, who could not find anything better to say last week: “I feel like something is really wrong. These cars are very sensitive. You can see that most teams are not consistent, but that doesn’t explain why I am a second behind my teammate. I don’t want to sound arrogant, but on a bad day, I can be a tenth behind, but not more than that.”

Making such a statement while being part of the official Honda team could only go down poorly. Not everyone can be Fernando Alonso, especially within the Red Bull pipeline. The latter did not take long to take action. Helmut Marko informed Speedweek, which belongs to the energy drink company, that the Briton was no longer part of the Red Bull Junior program.

Red Bull decides to exclude a driver who had already made headlines in the past: in 2015, he was banned from all automotive competition for two years for overtaking 10 cars under safety car conditions to deliberately collide with one of his direct rivals for the championship…

If the career of the Briton now seems well compromised, that of Patricio O’Ward continues to progress. The Indy Lights champion has recently joined the Red Bull program. While he is currently competing in the IndyCar championship, he will try his hand at Formula 2 this weekend for a one-off appearance with MP Motorsport, replacing Mahaveer Raghunathan, who has received too many penalties since the beginning of the season.

Now that Dan Ticktum is no longer in Super Formula, he might head to Japan. It’s known that this is the path followed by a certain Pierre Gasly before making his arrival at Toro Rosso.
