Official: Paddy Lowe leaves Williams for good
It is now official, Paddy Lowe, the Chief Technical Officer of the Williams team, is leaving the British team with immediate effect. The name of his replacement has not yet been announced.

It was through a laconic statement published 48 hours after the French Grand Prix that the Williams team confirmed the departure of Paddy Lowe from his position as Technical Director.
Since the beginning of the season, the British engineer had been sidelined following a very disappointing series of underperforming cars. Held responsible for the situation, the former Mercedes engineer had been asked to take a step back until today, when he finally announced his definitive departure from the team and his withdrawal as a shareholder.
« After a period of reflection, I have made the decision not to continue my collaboration with Williams. I wish all my colleagues the best for the challenges they face and I am sure they will be able to meet them. I would especially like to thank all the Williams fans for their support. » Lowe said in a statement.
On her side, Claire Williams briefly comments on Lowe’s decision, which seemed inevitable: « We understand and respect Paddy’s decision and wish him all the best for the future. »
The question now is whether Williams will hire a new engineer, even though Patrick Head has returned as a consultant, and especially if Paddy Lowe, highly regarded in Formula 1, will want to take on another challenge with a new team.
