Formula 1 is preparing a small revolution in its regulations for 2021. For months, talks between the FIA, Liberty Media, and the teams have intensified, and apparently, crucial points still remain to be negotiated.

That is why, following a new meeting held at the FIA headquarters yesterday (June 13), attended by team principals, technical directors, Pirelli representatives, and drivers (Nico Hülkenberg, Lewis Hamilton, and Alexander Wurz), the decision was made to present this new regulation next October.

Besides the financial aspect and the technical regulation of single-seaters (promoting overtaking, making driving more physical and the operation of the single-seaters less complex and costly…), Liberty Media’s desire to fundamentally change the format of Grand Prix weekends is also at the heart of the discussion.

Without a doubt, the coming months before the final announcement of the changes for 2021 are likely to be turbulent among all the parties involved.
