Expected as favorites in the race, the Ferrari drivers ultimately couldn’t do anything in Melbourne. Distanced from the first laps, the two Italian cars had to settle for a top 5 finish off the podium, far behind the two Mercedes. Visibly clear-headed, Toto Wolff expressed surprise at such a situation.

« We were surprised that Ferrari had no pace at all. »

In addition to this statement, the Austrian reflects on the great performance of his victorious driver Valtteri Bottas, who is once again enjoying the thrill of victory after a year of drought. Toto Wolff referred to the past, when the Finn dominated the competition in Formula 3. Performances closely followed by the Mercedes team principal, who was his manager at the time.

I remember his early years when he was the reference and could destroy everyone. When he returned to the factory this winter, Valtteri told me “I’m back”. We can certainly believe it given today’s race!
