Ferrari and Mercedes reluctant with Netflix
Throughout the 2018 season, Netflix had full access to the paddocks to make a documentary on the fastest sport in the world. Unfortunately, Ferrari and Mercedes, the two main contenders in the championship, refused to get more involved.

Since the acquisition of Formula 1 by Liberty Media, the primary goal of the American buyers has always been to bring fans closer to their favorite sport. With this in mind, Formula 1 provided Netflix with full access to the 2018 championship. The popular streaming platform was able to gather exclusive footage, especially off the track.
Unfortunately, two teams have restricted access to their spheres. These teams are none other than the leaders, Ferrari and Mercedes. We can only be disappointed knowing that they have been the main characters in a beautiful struggle. Even if this choice is disappointing, it is understandable when we look at the involvement and concentration required to fight at the top.
Paul Martin, the executive producer of the series, speaks on the subject: « Mercedes and Ferrari wanted to participate under different conditions than the rest of the teams, and for us, as producers, as well as for Netflix, as a streaming platform, we were not very comfortable with that. »
This documentary series, named “Drive To Survive”, will be available on Netflix on the 8th of March and will consist of 10 episodes taking us behind the scenes of the sport.
Unparalleled Speed. Unprecedented Access.
