The teams refused a joint presentation of their 2019 single-seater
The teams did not wish to present their new car at a joint event as suggested by Liberty Media. To date, six presentation dates have been revealed.
Still with a view to revolutionizing its approach to the discipline and breaking habits, Liberty Media had requested the teams to make a joint presentation of their 2019 cars at a major event, the location of which had not yet been chosen.
But quickly, the various team representatives rejected this idea, preferring instead to immediately launch the competition during the annual presentations of their team’s new lines and colors, thus maintaining all the attention during this event.
Even though for the past few years single-seater presentations are no longer done with great fanfare, Benetton and Flavio Briatore, for example, used to make it a very trendy and grandiose event, this moment holds particular importance for the team, capturing the full attention of the media and Formula 1 fans for a few hours.
For the moment, only six teams have announced their presentation dates: Toro Rosso on Monday, February 11; Renault on Tuesday, February 12; Racing Point on Wednesday, February 13; McLaren on Thursday, February 14; Ferrari on Friday, February 15; and Sauber on Monday, February 18.
Note that these presentations will take place at the teams’ factories except for Sauber, which will launch directly in Barcelona before the first winter tests, and Racing Point, which will present its colors and new name live from Toronto, Canada, the home country of the new owner, Lawrence Stroll.
