Official: Binotto replaces Arrivabene as Ferrari’s Sporting Director
Mattia Binotto, previously Technical Director at Ferrari, will replace Maurizio Arrivabene as Ferrari's Sporting Director, deemed too disappointing in 2018.

Since 2017, Maurizio Arrivabene has been on the hot seat after Ferrari’s crushing defeat against Mercedes. 2018 was supposed to allow the Italian team to reclaim the world title, but unfortunately, in four seasons, Arrivabene has not achieved this feat. A situation that the Prancing Horse team intends to change with this new palace revolution.
Member of the reds since 1995, Mattia Binotto has continuously climbed the ranks of the Scuderia to become Head of the engine department at the end of 2014, then Chief Technical Officer in 2016 following James Allison’s departure to Mercedes, until becoming the new Team Principal in 2019. The Italian is, among other things, responsible for the advancement of the Ferrari engine, which is now on par with its German competitor.
The desire for change in 2019 is certainly also felt at the level of the driver duo with the dismissal of Kimi Räikkönen making way for youth through Charles Leclerc. Hopefully, these management and driver changes will allow the tifosi to bring the title home in 2019.
