Williams finds a new sponsor
Following the departure of its main sponsor, Martini, Williams is obliged to find new funding for its team. The arrival of PKN, a Polish oil company linked to Robert Kubica, is a first step for the British team.

The 2018 season for Williams was undoubtedly its toughest, consistently occupying the bottom of the grid. This was due to a more than poor chassis and driver choices based on their ability to bring money to the team.
The departure of the title sponsor of the British team, Martini, an aperitif alcohol brand, and SMP Racing, which was linked to Sergey Sirotkin, plunges Frank Williams’ team into deep embarrassment. It is worth noting that the current backmarker of the pack is losing one of its biggest shareholders, Lawrence Stroll, father of Lance Stroll, who has now acquired Force India.
The signing of Robert Kubica brings in a Polish sponsor, the oil company PNK ORLEN, one of the main players in this sector and globally used across nearly 90 countries.
The brand will thus appear on the rear wing of the single-seater and on the mirrors. It will also be visible on the helmet and the suits of the drivers and mechanics.
A new partnership, talented new drivers, Williams cannot afford to make mistakes and is obliged to right the ship and regain its glory from the beginning of the hybrid era if it does not want to disappoint its fans and shareholders once again.
Daniel Obajekt, president of the oil company, is confident in this new alliance and wishes to move forward: «The cooperation between PKN ORLEN and Williams Martini Racing opens a new era for motorsport in Poland, while strengthening the global reach of our brand. It is worth noting that the ORLEN group now has assets in five countries in Europe and North America. Our products are available in more than 90 countries worldwide. This means that we are looking for global communication channels to establish an international position. Involvement in Formula 1 racing is one of the most effective ways to promote our brand through sports sponsorship, and we are thrilled to participate in this sport with Williams.»
Williams Martini Racing is pleased to announce a new partnership with @PKN_ORLEN, a leading player in the fuels and energy market.
