Pietro Fittipaldi will be a test driver for Haas in 2019
The Brazilian Pietro Fittipaldi, current IndyCar driver, will join Haas as a test driver in 2019.

He is the grandson of the two-time world champion, Emerson Fittipaldi, who will now be able to try to be a future contender for a seat in Formula 1. Indeed, Pietro Fittipaldi becomes the test driver for the Haas F1 Team.
After Ferrucci’s dismissal due to poor behavior, the American team found itself without a third driver. It is therefore with the aim of filling this gap in test drivers that Haas decided to recruit Fittipaldi. Unfortunately for the team fifth in the constructors’ championship, the 22-year-old Brazilian does not yet have his super license, and therefore a dual program will be necessary to obtain it.
It’s a real opportunity for the Miami native to revive his career following his dreadful crash in May during the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. An accident that only allowed him to participate in six IndyCar races this season, with his best finish being 9th place.
Pietro Fittipaldi is, of course, thrilled to have a chance to secure a spot in Formula 1: « I would like to thank Gene Haas and Günther Steiner for the opportunity to join the team. They have done an incredible job in Formula One, and being asked to play a role in their continued success is naturally very exciting. I look forward to getting behind the wheel of the VF-18 in Abu Dhabi. I will continue this experience through 2019 and, hopefully, secure a spot in a Formula 1 race in the future.»
