Force India out of the race at Spa?

As F1 resumes, the recently acquired Indian team is still facing legal issues, and some signs suggest that the team might not place its cars on the Belgian track.

Following the takeover of the Indian team by their driver Sergio Perez, the company was acquired by a group of investors led by the father of current Williams driver Lance Stroll.

If the procedure has been validated by high economic and sports authorities, it appears that certain legal aspects remain unresolved at present. Indeed, Vijay Mallya and Subrata Roy still reportedly hold 85% of the team’s shares, and the agreement of 13 Indian banks remains to be validated to complete the sale to the consortium led by Lawrence Stroll. According to RaceFans, the agreement could not be reached, which means that the sale only concerned the team’s assets (including the cars) but not the entry into the F1 World Championship. This means that the legal structure with the right to race in F1 no longer has the assets to do so and vice-versa for the other entity.

Thus, it is under its new entity that the Belgian weekend must begin, but it is clear that everything is far from ready on the part of the Indo-Canadian team. A mystery, therefore, to know if the single-seaters will be able to start, if so, with what colors, and which drivers?

The first reporters on the scene noted that the “Sahara Force India” logo has disappeared from the communication materials. Similarly, the Twitter and Facebook profiles have been renamed simply as Force India.
