For several days, the health condition of Sergio Marchionne, President of Ferrari and CEO of the FIAT group for 14 years, has been very concerning.

Indeed, the Italian businessman had been in a coma for several days following complications encountered during shoulder surgery on June 28.

In a statement released during the Formula 1 German Grand Prix, Ferrari announced his replacement by Louis Carey Camilleri: « Regarding the health of Sergio Marchionne, FIAT Chrysler Automobiles communicates with deep sadness that, during this week, unexpected complications arose while Mr. Marchionne was recovering from surgery and these have worsened considerably in the last few hours. As a result, Mr. Marchionne will not be able to return to work. The FCA Board of Directors, meeting today, first expressed its solidarity with Sergio Marchionne and his family and highlighted the extraordinary contribution, both human and professional, that he has made to the company over these years. »

This morning, the Italian press announced the death of the 66-year-old businessman in the Zurich clinic where he was being treated.
