Fernando Alonso gets closer to the 24 Hours of Le Mans
Fernando Alonso's participation in the upcoming 24 Hours of Le Mans seems increasingly likely, as Citi Private Bank, one of his personal sponsors, has almost made it official.

Fernando Alonso continues his adventures outside of F1 and will therefore discover a new experience this weekend with the 24 Hours of Daytona. To do so, he will take the wheel of a United Autosport, the team owned by Zak Brown.
Like his participation last year in the Indianapolis 500, this participation also allows him to showcase his personal sponsors rather than McLaren’s.
Besides his personal brand Kimoa, he highlights the private bank of the Citi group, Citi Private Bank, which is visible on the front of his helmet as well as on the side of his cap. The American bank praised this partnership and therefore issued a press release on the subject. Inside, there is a sentence that might be significant in the future: « Fernando is also about to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June 2018. With the Indianapolis 500 and the Monaco Grand Prix, Le Mans is one of the elements of the Triple Crown. Having already won Monaco twice, Fernando hopes to be the second driver to achieve the Triple Crown. »
However, at a press conference in Florida, the Spanish driver refused to officially confirm his participation in Le Mans. He simply acknowledged that he had a fifty-fifty chance of being at the start of the 24-hour race in Sarthe: “It is no secret that I would like to race at Le Mans in the future. I am not 100% sure yet whether it will be this year or not. It could happen. It’s 50/50.”
If this were to be confirmed, he should take the wheel of one of the cars fielded by Toyota, with whom he conducted tests in Bahrain at the end of last season.
