FIA: Jean Todt set to be re-elected for a third term
Since no other candidate has submitted their application, Jean Todt is assured of remaining at the head of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile for an additional term.

Jean Todt, former director of Ferrari, was first elected as president of the FIA in 2009 with the support of his predecessor Max Mosley. His re-election in 2013 did not face significant difficulties.
The deadline to submit candidacies for the election being set for November 17, and no one having expressed the desire to run, Jean Todt is thus unofficially re-elected as president of the federation based at Place de la Concorde in Paris. The annual general assembly to be held on December 8 is the final step for Jean Todt to be officially re-elected.
The current mandate of the former director of Peugeot Sport is focused on the safety of road users in general. The organization has also worked on preventing drunk driving and raising road safety awareness among children. In this noble quest, the Frenchman seems to have somewhat lost interest in motorsport. This is particularly evident recently in Formula 1, where the FIA appears to be stepping back in favor of the new owners of the discipline. The president of the federation’s vision for motorsport seems to be more oriented towards the new Formula E championship, which is more in line with the direction he wishes to steer auto racing.
Jean Todt insisted that since he introduced the eleven people on his list for the election, he had received numerous encouragements to remain president: « A large number of people who voted for me are pushing me to run for another term. This is very important because if I had met a lot of resistance discouraging me from running for election, my decision would have been much easier, as I would have then decided to go for it. »
The next term that Jean Todt will serve, starting from December 8, will be four years until 2021. The Frenchman will then have to step down as the internal rules of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile allow for a maximum of three terms.
