Statements from the Verstappen camp, from both the father, Jos, and Max himself, could suggest that the Dutchman might consider checking if the grass is greener on the other side. Discontent with the 2017 season due to multiple reliability issues, the future didn’t seem so bright for the Red Bull – Verstappen partnership.

But the Dutchman assures: They have always supported me and my ambition, and I know we share this ambition. Their support, from the factory to the garage team, no matter what happens on the track, has always been 100%. before adding Red Bull has always had faith and confidence in me. First by inviting me into the young driver program at the age of 16, then by giving me the opportunity to take my first start in Formula 1 at 17 and the opportunity to race with Red Bull Racing where I had a dream debut with this team. and to conclude I am very happy to commit further with Red Bull Racing and look forward to continuing to work together for even more success in the coming years.

For his part, Christian Horner is delighted to keep the driver in his team: “We are thrilled that Max has agreed to extend his contract with Red Bull Racing. We had a phenomenal start in Spain last year and Max has only progressed since then. It was a great moment for the whole team to see him put an end to the frustrations of this season by winning that fantastic victory in Malaysia last month. Today, with Max, we are looking to the long term and he is in the best place in the sport to build a team around him to achieve our common ambitions.”
