F2 and GP3 practice sessions start on Thursday at Silverstone
Silverstone has unveiled the final schedule for its weekend. The free practice sessions for F2 and GP3 will take place starting on Thursday.

For years, Silverstone has been looking to turn its race weekend into a festival combining both F1 and music to appeal to a wide audience. It is planned to have concerts every evening, starting on Thursday.
At the same time, Liberty Media is seeking to offer more new experiences to propose a more attractive events/price ratio than currently. Thus, it had launched the first demonstrations in two-seater single-seaters in Barcelona.
But these demonstrations take up track time and it becomes complicated to fit all the already planned categories in support (F2, GP3 and Porsche Supercup) into busy days. Therefore, the circuit has announced that it has evolved its weekend schedule, which now sees free practice for F2 and GP3 taking place on Thursday instead of Friday.
This is obviously well received by the circuit as it allows them to market a new ticket dedicated exclusively to Thursday, priced at 40 British pounds. For those who had already purchased their tickets for the full weekend, no additional charge is required to access the circuit, but the concert scheduled for Thursday evening is always an extra cost.
On the contrary, those who have purchased their ticket for the Travis concert will also be able to benefit from a free day at the circuit, with now some racing action on the track.
On the other hand, this requires the teams to be ready even earlier than planned, as they will already have to face the challenge of transporting everything from Austria starting the previous Sunday…
This format of four days is also planned for the weekends in Hungary, Belgium, Italy, United States, and Mexico. It remains to be seen how fans will react and how the audience will be for these additional days, especially since discussions were more focused on reducing weekends to just two days to be less demanding for fans who want to travel.
