Tire choices by driver for Azerbaijan
Pirelli has announced the tire choices available to the teams for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Mandatory tires for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend are the white-banded mediums, yellow-banded softs, and finally the red-banded super-softs.
If we look in detail, we can notice that the majority of drivers have decided to take only one set of medium tires for the whole weekend, with the exception of the Red Bulls of Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen, the Williams of Felipe Massa, and the Sauber of Marcus Ericsson. Most drivers have chosen to bring three to four sets of soft tires, with the exception of the McLarens, which will bring only two sets. And finally, regarding the super-soft tires, the drivers have mostly opted for eight to nine sets, while the McLarens will bring ten.
Let’s recall that the regulations stipulate that each team will be reserved a set of super-softs for Q3 and the drivers who qualify for it will start the race with the set that allowed them to achieve their best time in Q2. The mandatory race tires will be the super-softs and the softs.
