Third season for Nobuharu Matsushita at ART Grand Prix
Nobuharu Matsushita retains Honda's confidence, and is therefore staying with ART Grand Prix for a third season in GP2.

If Nobuharu Matsushita began his second season in GP2 with high ambitions, he was not able to make the hoped-for breakthrough.
However, the result of this second season is misleading: although it finished in 11th place (compared to 9th in 2015), it scored much more points than the previous year (92 compared to 68.5), by finishing in the points much more consistently.
Sébastien Philippe, the team director, commented: « Since his first steps in GP2 in Europe, he has shown that he is very involved and motivated and that he can quickly adapt to a new culture and working environment. Our collaboration has gone very well since the first year, with Nobu winning twice, including the prestigious victory in Monaco, and stepping onto many podiums over the past two years. »
There is still a seat to be filled at ART Grand Prix since Sergey Sirotkin has yet to be confirmed for a second season with the French team. One of the favorites for this spot could be Thai driver Alexander Albon, who fought for the GP3 title until the final weekend last year against his ART Grand Prix teammate, Charles Leclerc. Following that, he completed his first GP2 tests within the structure created by Nicolas Todt and Frédéric Vasseur.
