Aged only 19, Louis Delétraz is on a fast track through the various promotion categories. As in 2014, when he finished as the runner-up in Formula Renault 2.0 NEC in his second season in the category.

He also took the opportunity to do a few races in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0. As a result, 2015 was a year of all successes for the Swiss driver, with the title in Formula Renault 2.0 NEC as well as a vice-champion title in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0.

At the end of that same season, he decided to do a weekend of Formula Renault 3.5, before joining the series in 2016, while being part of the first class of the Renault Sport Academy. He fought for the title until the very last race but once again had to settle for the runner-up position, against Frenchman Tom Dillmann.

He then repeated his strategy from previous seasons by participating in the final weekend of GP2 in Abu Dhabi to get familiar with a new circuit and a new single-seater. Following this, he conducted tests with Racing Engineering. The test is therefore a success, as confirmed by Alfonso de Orléans-Bourbon, a duke from the Spanish royal family and creator of the Racing Engineering structure: “Having tested him in Abu Dhabi during the post-season tests earlier this month allowed us to see how much he has learned and matured over the year, which is very promising, especially since he’s only 19 years old.”

He will therefore have by his side Gustav Malja, who joins Racing Engineering after a first season with Rapax. The Swedish driver’s best result remains his podium finish in the main race at Monza.
