Charles Leclerc and Antonio Fuoco join Prema in GP2
Prema has signed an agreement with the Ferrari Driver Academy to welcome two residents to its GP2 team. GP3 champion Charles Leclerc and Antonio Fuoco will join the Italian team.

On the occasion of its first season in GP2, Prema made a big impression by securing both titles, with a battle between its two drivers, Pierre Gasly and Antonio Giovinazzi, lasting until the final race.
Already in a strong position in Formula 3, Prema quickly became a reference in the GP2 paddock. That’s why Ferrari decided to partner with the team for the development of its young protégés. René Rosin, the team director, can only be delighted with the agreement made with Ferrari: “We are happy and proud of the trust that the Ferrari Driver Academy has placed in us. Being able to collaborate with two very talented young drivers like Charles and Antonio is very motivating for the team. We will give them our best support, aiming for new outstanding successes.”
After winning his first season in GP3, Charles Leclerc will aim for the same performance in the higher category in 2017. It is also very likely that he will continue his dual program with practice sessions on Friday mornings in F1, within Haas.
Regarding Antonio Fuoco, he knows Prema’s operations very well as he won the Formula Renault ALPS title in 2013 with the Italian team. He will therefore try to replicate the same performance: « I have already raced with Prema in the past and I am aware of the high level of performance of their cars, confirmed by the extraordinary results they achieved this year. I believe that combining the potential of the team with that of the Ferrari Driver Academy will allow for the development of our personal and professional growth. »
The two drivers will therefore be able to get familiar with their new team as early as this week, with post-season testing. This provides them with an ideal preparation for the next season.
