To each their due, Nico Rosberg expressed profound joy at having won the race of the day, his first on Italian soil: « Thank you all: it’s a very special day for me to win in Italy: you are incredible (addressing the audience)! It’s fantastic to stand here on the top step of the podium. »

In an interview with former team director Eddie Jordan, today’s winner reflected on his start: « I got off to a great start, which was decisive. Everything went well for me from that moment on. »

Disappointed but fair-play, Lewis Hamilton also paid tribute to the Monza crowd: « Look at this crowd: it’s the best audience of the season here! » But of course, a hint of bitterness was already evident in his words

«Of course, my start was bad, but it was another very beautiful day for Mercedes; I am proud to be a part of it. »

For his part, Sebastian Vettel only finishes third today, but the cheers he received strongly resemble those of a victory. Not mincing words, the Ferrari driver described Monza as the most beautiful podium in the world! Festive yet clear-minded, he noted the gap between him and his competitors ahead: We’re trying to catch up with Mercedes as much as possible; we have to congratulate them on their work. But I am certain that Ferrari will return to the forefront. We must keep believing! An unforgettable podium for the driver, with a crowd fully supporting him. He even took the opportunity to speak in Italian.

Just like Nico Rosberg who turned into a crowd entertainer! Astonishing image of a Mercedes driver rallying a crowd devoted to the cause of Scuderia Ferrari! Often measured in his reactions, the day’s winner let loose like never before, setting the mood on the podium.

But the German did not stop there. Thus, after the traditional post-race photo, the German returned to present his trophy to the public at the top of the fences. The crowd then chanted his name for long minutes.

A sign of his renewed confidence in his fight for the title against Lewis Hamilton? However, Rosberg remains second in the overall drivers’ standings, as you can see on this page. But what a beautiful moment of communion it was on the podium this afternoon. Monza once again showed its love for Formula 1, which will return for at least three more years in Lombardy!
