GP3: Esteban Ocon secures his crown and succeeds Bottas, Gutierrez, and Kvyat
The Frenchman Esteban Ocon managed to hold off Luca Ghiotto in the last race of the GP3 championship, thus securing the GP3 title in a very impressive way. Esteban Gutierrez, Valtteri Bottas, and Daniil Kvyat had won this championship in recent years.

If Alex Palou will remain on record as the last winner of this 2015 GP3 season, it was indeed Esteban Ocon who drew all the attention at the finish of the Abu Dhabi race.
By finishing third in the race, where his rival Luca Ghiotto fell short of the podium, Esteban Ocon ensured he would win the GP3 Series, just one year after triumphing in the European Formula 3 Championship. This is a 100% French success as the Norman was racing for the French team ART Grand Prix.
Thanks to this success, the doors of Formula 1 are opening a little wider for the Frenchman. Mercedes has decided to make him their reserve driver for next season. In an interview with L’Équipe this Sunday, Toto Wolff, the team principal of Mercedes Grand Prix, considered the possibility of sending Esteban Ocon to defend the brand’s colors in DTM next year. The Frenchman could also continue his rapid progress in GP2.
Organized since 2010, the GP3 Championship boasts an impressive list of winners including Esteban Guttierez, Valtteri Bottas, Mitch Evans, Daniil Kvyat, and Alex Lynn.
