Juan Pablo Montoya: Alonso is my hero, I don’t know how he’s holding up
Juan Pablo Montoya praised, in very laudatory terms, the positive and resilient attitude of Fernando Alonso, who is experiencing an extremely challenging season at McLaren-Honda.

Runner-up in IndyCar, Juan Pablo Montoya also comments on F1. The former Williams driver still has an insightful view on the discipline and spoke to AS about Fernando Alonso’s season: « Fernando is my hero, I don’t know how he manages to hold on, I wouldn’t last in that situation. It’s a very difficult situation for a driver like him » he confided.
The Penske driver in Indy Car reflected on the episode in Japan where Fernando Alonso criticized the Honda engine by calling it a GP2 engine: « I understand his frustration, Fernando is an extraordinary driver and what happened in Japan with those radio messages is just logical, I would have acted the same way. I understand ».
On the McLaren side, Fernando Alonso hopes that the end of the season will come quickly so he can focus on 2016 and is already noticing progress: « In the last two races, we have made progress, the car is moving in the right direction. We want to reach the end of the season and start preparing for 2016 and introduce new developments in winter testing ».
Very optimistic as well, Jenson Button hopes that 2016 will be quite different from this 2015 season: « We have high hopes for next year, we think it will not be like 2015, we hope so and we are all working hard for the next three, four months, as they are important ».
