During the Belgian weekend, F1 spectators witnessed two punctures. The first was Nico Rosberg’s on Friday, and the second occurred during the race with Sebastian Vettel. The Italian team had opted for only one pit stop. The German driver had switched to medium tires as early as the 14th lap. During the 43rd lap, he saw his right rear tire destroyed, allowing Romain Grosjean to step onto the podium.

At the finish, the former Red Bull driver did not mince his words in front of journalists, where he explained that Pirelli’s performance was unacceptable. However, Paul Hembery was surprised by Ferrari’s strategy of making only one pit stop, while the other teams made between two and three stops.

On the Monza circuit, the tires will be closely monitored. Paul Hembery spoke in Autosport where he announced that the results of the investigation will be known at Monza: « We have completed the investigation on Sebastian Vettel’s tire at Spa. The detailed findings of the technical analysis will be presented at Monza ».

Victim of going off track due to his tire during the second free practice session, Nico Rosberg also demands quick action from Pirelli.
