During the 2016 season, the Formula 1 world will welcome a new team with the arrival of Haas. The American team aims to raise awareness among American spectators about the world of Formula 1, as the country has had an event on the Circuit of the Americas since 2012 in Austin.

According to Mario Andretti, if Haas F1 Team chooses an American driver, it would help boost their national image: « It’s exciting to see what happens. They know they have a rather steep learning curve, and everything will depend on the individuals the team recruits, whether drivers or engineers. They will need to make the right choices, as that will make the difference. It’s interesting to see what’s happening in the United States, we have a circuit that hosts Formula 1. Now, it’s great to see an American team in F1. I think it will be interesting in our country because it will strengthen the interest of fans and television in Formula 1 ». A driver like Alexander Rossi thus appears as an ideal candidate, especially since he holds the valuable Super License.

But the former Lotus driver also recommends Jean-Eric Vergne for the second seat at Haas F1 Team as he explains in GPupdate: « Jean-Eric has talent that has been overlooked by Red Bull, in my opinion. He has experience in Formula 1 and he demonstrated what he was capable of when he excelled at Toro Rosso. So for me, hiring him would be a logical choice. At the moment, with the drivers available, I don’t think there’s anyone better than Jean-Eric ».
