Renault becomes a manufacturer in Formula E
While its future in Formula 1 is uncertain, Renault becomes a manufacturer for the second season of Formula E. Meanwhile, Alain Prost promises that his team will come back stronger to win both the driver and constructor titles.

During this first season, e.dams-Renault won the constructors’ championship of this brand-new 100% electric championship. For the second season, manufacturers will be able to produce their own powertrains. Renault has therefore decided to invest more.
Patrice Ratti, CEO of Renault Sport, confirmed it on the official Formula E site: « We must be a full manufacturer by next season, so we are developing a powertrain for the car. This season, it was Spark-Renault used by all teams, next year it will be e.dams-Renault that uses it. We are in Formula Electric to be consistent with our strategy in electric vehicles and because we believe it is the future that will allow this technology to be developed and also show people that electric vehicles are not only good for the environment, but they can be exciting and fun ».
During this event in London, Sébastian Buemi fell short of the title by just one point. Alain Prost, co-owner of the team, vowed that edams-Renault would fight for both titles starting next season: « I went back a few years to when I lost the championship several times by one point or half a point. We can always have these kinds of memories, that’s what I told Seb [Buemi]. He must be very disappointed, but at the end of the day he was very positive even though he lost the championship on the final corner. For him, he just needs to have a glass of wine today and think about the next season ».
