Formula E in Imola?
For the second season of Formula E, the Imola circuit is reportedly a candidate to host a race. A delegation from the Italian track is said to have met with the championship officials in London.

After the success of the first Formula E season, concluded in London with the crowning of Nelson Piquet Jr, several cities are interested in hosting a championship race in 2016. For now, let’s remember that the final Formula E calendar has not yet been announced. Imola is already a candidate.
Motorsport revealed that the mayor of Imola, Daniele Manca, went to London to meet Alejandro Agag, the creator of Formula E. The circuit would be established on the legendary Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari.
The plan includes an abbreviated version of the track to meet the discipline’s criteria, as a Formula E circuit must be less than 3 kilometers long. The circuit would thus measure 2.8 km; drivers would pass through the Tamburello curve using an internal road before rejoining the original track at Acqua Minerali.
If the circuit is chosen, it would become the first permanent track to host the new 100% electric discipline. During the first season, all the circuits were urban and temporary. Brussels is also among the cities interested in hosting a Formula E race. A race is finally expected to take place in Paris in April 2016.
Let us recall that, according to Bernie Ecclestone, Imola could replace Monza if the latter circuit is unable to host the upcoming Italian Formula 1 Grand Prix due to insufficient funds.
