Manor: Fabio Leimer could participate in Grand Prix at the end of the season
The new test driver for the Manor F1 team, Fabio Leimer, explained that he should drive the British single-seater as a regular driver at the end of the season.

The young Swiss driver, Fabio Leimer, joined Manor earlier this month as a test and reserve driver and is expected to participate in a free practice session next week as part of the British Grand Prix: « For now, it seems I will do the first free practice at Silverstone, but as you know, everything can change very quickly in F1 if someone shows up with a lot of money […] ; but I think at Silverstone I will do a first practice session and maybe at the end of the season, I could do a few races. »
In 2013, Fabio Leimer became the GP2 champion, beating Sam Bird, who is now in Formula E. During 2013, the Rothrist native was already in contact with Marussia: « We had been in contact with Marussia since 2013, but in the end, we never had the necessary budget to be a driver in 2014, Formula 1 was over for me. Suddenly, I receive a call saying: “we are interested in having you as a third driver and maybe even doing a few races at the end of the year”; so I am happy. »
According to him, Manor should not introduce a new car for this season: « At the moment, it seems they will stick with this car, it wouldn’t make sense to introduce a new car this season, better to work for next year ».
As a reminder, Fabio Leimer replaces Jaime Alguersuari for the last Formula E event in London with Virgin Racing this weekend.
