Mercedes: Hamilton wants to set things straight in Austria

Beaten by Nico Rosberg last year in Austria, Lewis Hamilton intends to win at the Red Bull Ring and thus confirm his recent victory in Canada. However, his teammate warns that he will adopt a maximum attack strategy.

The 2014 Austrian Grand Prix did not really smile upon the future world champion: after a spin in Q3, the Englishman started in 9th place. In the race, however, he managed to overtake the Williams, who started from the front row, to secure the Mercedes one-two behind Nico Rosberg.

Naturally, Lewis Hamilton hopes for a more normal weekend at the Red Bull Ring: « It’s time to keep pushing forward and set things right on a circuit where I had a difficult start last year… Even though I struggled during qualifying, starting from ninth place, it was actually a great race with the fight to come back from the pack. (…) Of course, I will work hard to have a clearer field to win on Sunday. However, no matter what happens, you can be sure the atmosphere will be amazing ».

Poleman and winner in Canada two weeks ago (« an incredible feeling », he said), Lewis Hamilton steps forward as a solid leader of the World Championship in Austria. Nico Rosberg still recalls his missed qualification in Montreal: « Not putting everything together in qualifying indeed weakened my chances of setting a very good time, but I had the necessary pace, and that’s a very good sign for the future and a full attack in Austria ».

As last year, Nico Rosberg believes that the Williams will be a constant threat in the race: « I am sure we will have a tough competition here, once again with the Williams… and probably with others as well. » Nico Rosberg is undoubtedly thinking of the Ferraris, which we should see this weekend if the recent engine developments bring the expected benefits.
