During the off-season, Fernando Alonso left Ferrari to join McLaren-Honda after five years at Maranello. To replace him, the Scuderia trusted four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, coming from Red Bull.

A wise choice for the Italian team, which, after a disastrous 2014 season, has already won a Grand Prix in Malaysia this year and is consistently on the podium. The Maranello team has become the most serious competitor to challenge Mercedes during most weekends.

Sergio Marchionne, who had not met Vettel before signing with Ferrari, believes that the German driver is the right man for the team, as he recently stated: « There wasn’t a doubt in my mind. I think he’s a superb driver, he has a lot of talent. He’s a complete driver, it’s one of those things that’s very hard to find, he understands how the car works and his approach is impeccable. »

He does things well and he does them regularly, and doing all that on the track at this speed is not easy. There are people who belong to a very exclusive group of world champions, and he is one of them. We are lucky to have him. My only goal is to give him the car that can make him win, he concludes.

Sebastian Vettel is currently in third place in the standings with 108 points; he is 43 points behind the championship leader, Lewis Hamilton.
