Di Grassi will return for a second season with Audi Sport Abt
A few hours before the seventh race of the season in Monaco, the news broke: Brazilian Lucas Di Grassi is the first driver confirmed for the second season of Formula E.

Buoyed by his position as the provisional leader in the Drivers’ general standings, Lucas Di Grassi is rewarded for his strong performances with a one-year contract extension.
“I am both thrilled and proud at the idea of Lucas being part of our team next year,” declared Hans-Jürgen Abt, Team Principal of the eponymous team. He reveals that the negotiations were easy: “We both knew what we wanted, it didn’t even take us thirty minutes to seal the deal and shake hands!”
The team’s director doesn’t miss the opportunity to highlight his driver’s qualities: Lucas is one of the best drivers in Formula E. He is one of the most technically skilled drivers on the grid but also one of the fastest.
Following the agreement, Lucas Di Grassi did not fail to thank his employer: “I have appreciated being part of the ABT team from the beginning,” he stated. “I did not hesitate for a single second at the mention of the contract extension. We have already experienced wonderful things together, but we remain very ambitious for the future, and I am convinced that we will achieve our goals.”
Let’s recall that the driver is also involved with Audi in the World Endurance Championship (the WEC), including participation in the flagship event of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The timing of the contract signing is ideal for the Brazilian who will compete in the event in his adopted city. As a resident of the Principality, like most of the engaged drivers, Lucas Di Grassi will be eager to shine and confirm his performances since the beginning of the season, capped by a victory in the inaugural race in Beijing.
