As she dreams of becoming the first woman since Lella Lombardi to drive an F1 car in a race, Susie Wolff thought she was close to her dream in Malaysia when Valtteri Bottas injured his back during qualifying in Australia. Unfortunately for her, back-to-back, Claire Williams announced that she would not be racing, but more importantly, that Adrian Sutil had been recruited as a reserve driver.

Susie Wolff talks about this episode on Sky Sports: « It was a surprise for all of us because we didn’t expect it. I respect the team’s decision. I think they wanted someone with more racing experience, that’s why they chose Sutil ».

However, she announced good news on her Twitter profile:

« At this time next week… I can’t wait to drive the FW37 again ». This season, Susie Wolff drove in Barcelona during the first day of winter testing sessions held in Catalonia. Nevertheless, the experience ended with a collision with Felipe Nasr’s Sauber.

In the coming days, Williams will announce who will make way for the Scotswoman.
