Pierre Gasly is seeking funding
Even though he is part of the Red Bull development program, Pierre Gasly has not yet completed his budget for the 2015 season. He has therefore launched a crowdfunding campaign, an increasingly strong trend in motorsports.

If crowdfunding campaigns have boomed with music, athletes seem to be increasingly receptive to them. Thus, to finance its return to the Abu Dhabi grid, Caterham launched its own campaign, which proved successful.
It is now a driver who is launching the same initiative, which is used at all levels of motorsports. Thus, one can remember that last year, Kamui Kobayashi relied on the support of his Japanese fans to secure his seat at Caterham. This year, Théophile Senegas has launched the same type of operation to finance his debut in single-seaters, within the Auto Sport Academy.
After winning his title in Formula Renault 2.0, the Upper Normandy native joined the Red Bull fold, which financed his season in Formula Renault 3.5, where he finished as runner-up behind Carlos Sainz Jr. This season, the energy drink company enabled him to move up to GP2 with the French team Dams. He is one of the title contenders, alongside Stoffel Vandoorne, Alex Lynn, and Alexander Rossi.
Nevertheless, Red Bull’s support does not include the accompaniment of the driver by a specialist in mental and physical preparation at each of his races: « On the threshold of F1 in 2015, I must prepare physically and psychologically to reach the highest level and work with a coach during my competitions. Currently, this budget is not covered by my team and I need to find this funding. »
Indeed, you need to account for 5,000 euros for each of the ten GP2 weekends as well as an additional 10,000 euros for the young driver tests he will conduct at Toro Rosso following the Spanish Grand Prix: « With the support of partners, we have partially financed my 2015 sports program. I still need to finance personal coaching at each GP this season and specific training courses, which represent a budget of 60,000€ for the 2015 season. »
The driver is also preparing for the future, in case Red Bull withdraws its support if he fails to win the title this season, as has been the case for many other drivers in the program. It’s also worth noting that his teammate at Dams, Alex Lynn, has decided to forgo Red Bull’s support by becoming a development driver for Williams.
